One of the most original young voices in American roots music, Jolie Holland lends her sultry Texas drawl and literary lyrics to a sound equally rooted in parlor songs, jazz, blues, country, gospel, and rock. A founding member of The Be Good Tanyas, Holland grew up in the Lone Star State, where she experimented with writing, playing, and singing music. By her teens she had learned piano, guitar, and fiddle, and was performing as a traveling musician.
