From harsh feedback assaults to meditative drones, John Wiese explores all of the facets of noise, bringing sharp instincts for texture and dynamics to even his most aggressive projects. Making his debut in the late '90s, Wiese has gone on to collaborate with noise legends like Smegma and Wolf Eyes, and he's chopped metal into extreme new shapes as a member of Sissy Spacek. On his solo releases, Wiese mixes otherworldly electronics with squalling distortion, and unlike the full-throttle attack of many noise artists, his tracks are full of dramatic shifts between beauty and brutality.
