Though the jazz-singing giant Joe Williams cut some of his most celebrated sessions with the Count Basie Orchestra, he had plenty of other fruitful collaborations with smaller bands. For instance, he joined genius trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison for the suavely swinging "By the River Sainte Marie," and leaped into bluesy belter mode alongside sax man Dave Pell for the Lester Young-toasting "Boogie Woogie (I May Be Wrong)."
