Editors’ Notes Born in Paris and raised in Toronto, conservatory-trained guitarist Jesse Cook embraces nuevo flamenco. A sharp attack, rapid-fire strumming, and jazz-influenced harmonies characterize mid-'90s tracks like "Tempest" and Cook's jaunty signature tune, "Mario Takes a Walk." On 2012's The Blue Guitar Sessions, Cook explored more luxuriously romantic sounds in cuts like Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You." Experiments with digital looping later led to the subtle electronics heard in "Shake" from his 2015 release, One World.
