Isobel Waller-Bridge Essentials

Isobel Waller-Bridge Essentials

Always serving her source material with nuance and care, composer Isobel Waller-Bridge (born in London in 1984) built up an extensive résumé of film, television, and theater scores throughout the 2010s, especially following her work on her sister Phoebe’s acclaimed comedy Fleabag. Her stylistic approach changes drastically and playfully from project to project: Contrast the jaunty neo-Classical themes for the 2020 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma with her nostalgic reveries from the acclaimed 2022 short The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse and her mournful German-language songs for the Netflix WWII drama Munich - The Edge of War. Her genre-bending concert works (see her 2022 LP VIII) couple a post-Romantic tonal vocabulary with flashes of scratching dissonance, impressionism, minimalism, and ambient music, conjuring imagined landscapes.
