Inspired by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal

Apple Music

In the late '70s and early '80s, the rise of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal had a significant musical impact on music of the time and for years to come. Bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, and Venom dumped the blues infusion that many of the earlier hard rock and metal crews like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin embraced. This new wave went for a heavier, faster and often more melodic approach which catapulted acts like Scorpions and UFO to a new level. Compiled here is a wide variety of bands ranging from thrash (Slayer, Megadeth), power metal (Helloween), and black metal (Mayhem) to modern “back to the roots” artists (White Wizzard) that have all been inspired by New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
