Inspired by Freddie King

King had a full-bodied guitar tone, with both low-end whomp and sizzling treble textures, an expansive profile that fit the Texas blues style perfectly. It became the template for Lone Star stylists like Stevie Ray Vaughan (“The Sky Is Crying”), but King's sighing lead guitar lines also had an impact on other rock artists: Prince's guitar paroxysms on “Peach” are impossible to fathom without his influence.
