India Essentials

India has bounced between house, freestyle, jazz, and salsa since the '80s. She originally recorded in English with famed early-'80s dance producers Little Louie Vega and Jellybean, but in '92 she released a salsa album with Latin jazz star Eddie Palmieri. That collaboration led to a recording contract with RMM Records, the New York-based label that pioneered the Big Apple's salsa sound. Her '94 release, Dicen Que Soy, instantly made her a star of the genre, earning her the nickname "La Princesa de la Salsa" and numerous guest appearances on various club anthems.
