Led by singer/guitarist Matt Pike, High on Fire formed from the ashes of the infamously slow and intense doom metal band Sleep. Adding raw thrash riffs and wailing stoner rock solos to Sleep's sludgy grooves, the band's raging 2000 debut The Art of Self Defense was instantly hailed as an extreme metal classic. Since then, High on Fire have continued bludgeoning metal fans with their monstrously heavy brand of blackened doom, and this collection of the band's thundering epics roars with feedback-drenched aggression.
