Heroes del Silencio Essentials

Madness never had a master, Enrique Bunbury once sang. It's just the kind of dramatic statement that helped him conquer rock en español with his group Héroes del Silencio. Formed in 1984 in Zaragoza, Spain, they channeled the high drama of The Doors into ringing stadium rock (not unlike an Iberian U2 or Simple Minds) before developing a harder, more aggressive sound indebted to Led Zeppelin. After 1995's triumphant, Bob Ezrin-produced Avalancha, the band splintered to pursue solo projects, but they have continued to tour and record live albums that capture them in their full majesty.
