Herbie Mann: Next Steps

Herbie Mann: Next Steps

The great jazz flutist traveled extensively and brought the world back home to New York. Mann explored Afro-Cuban rhythms alongside conga giant Carlos "Patato" Valdes on the percussive "Todos Locos" in 1959; successfully integrated Middle Eastern instruments and melodies into jazz on 1967's ear-opening The Wailing Dervishes; and collaborated with electro-pop group Stereolab on a futuristic 1996 version of the bossa hit "One Note Samba."
