Editors’ Notes Nashville may be the home of country music, but the city also produced one of the most compelling post-rock projects of the early 21st century in Hammock. The duo of Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson have devoted their careers to capturing the blend of bliss and awe that comes from watching a sunrise break over mountaintops. Although Hammock have never fully abandoned the shoegaze-inspired guitar work and subterranean drumbeats heard on their earliest recordings, they have grown increasingly orchestral over the years, releasing sublime albums like 2008’s Maybe They Will Sing for Us Tomorrow that explore ambient music almost exclusively.
