Editors’ Notes Oklahoma singer/songwriter Greyson Chance became a YouTube sensation at age 12, but he never let that quick fame control his musical vision. Even from his 2010 debut single, the empowering pop anthem “Waiting Outside the Lines,” he sang about breaking out of the norm, and it’s a theme he’s carried with him into adulthood. His sophomore album, Portraits, which came out more than eight years later, unveiled an unmistakably matured Chance, who’s settled into a smooth, moody baritone (while still showing off that silky falsetto) and embraced the raw emotions of being a man who has realized love and loss—instead of a boy just singing about it.
