Editors’ Notes Gretchen Wilson is famous for her defiant, no-nonsense lyrics, but her country-rock sound is just as bold. "Chariot" starts as a twangy, prog-like epic until it climaxes with Wilson rapping like Kurtis Blow as a gospel choir sings in the background. "Skoal Ring," meanwhile, is a rich, freewheeling honky-tonk number in the tradition of Doug Sahm, with fiddles that bounce alongside energetic pedal steel.
