Singer-songwriter Flavien Berger has opened new sonic dimensions in French pop. With releases like Léviathan (2015) he’s been exploring psychedelic electronic spaces from an alternative universe, throwing in his creative basket influences as unexpected as rockabilly, krautrock and cinematic synth-pop. His second LP Contre-Temps (2018) brought him an even greater following thanks to poetic, full-bodied offerings waltzing between experimental, kaleidoscopic alt-pop and chanson. In between albums, Berger also embarked on tantalising collaborations, including French pop luminary Étienne Daho.
