He’s best known as the producer whose golden touch guided rock en español’s explosion over several decades. But Gustavo Santaolalla—who also composes film soundtracks—got his start in the ’70s with the revolutionary Argentinean folk-rock outfit Arco Iris, playing rootsy, experimental rock. He later co-founded the electro-tango outfit Bajofondo, and he has released solo albums that plumb his twin loves: rock music and Argentinean folk.
