Eslabon Armado Essentials

Eslabon Armado are part of a wave of Mexican-American artists rebranding their parents’ ranchera and norteño music for a new generation. Borrowing heavily from late singer Ariel Camacho’s sierreño style, the group mostly stick to a minimalist approach of two guitars and bass, while tossing in the occasional horn. Songs like “Baby” and “Dame Tu Calor,” to name a couple, are full of longing and raw instrumentation. But despite the group’s rustic sound, the internet plays heavily into their narrative: Not only did “Con Tus Besos” blow up on TikTok, but also songs like “Ando Más Que Mal” allude to finding love online.
