Erick Sermon Essentials

Erick Sermon Essentials

For golden era hip-hop fans, Erick Sermon will always be most revered for his role alongside Parish Smith in EPMD. But after helping to bring through the talents of Redman, Keith Murray, and Das EFX, the group split—a move that left the Long Island-raised rapper and producer with the opportunity to showcase his solo talent. 1993's No Pressure and 1995's Double or Nothing were defined by his signature funk grooves—although it was the title track to 2001's Music that crossed into the mainstream, in part thanks to the use of some soulful Marvin Gaye vocals.
