Ennio Morricone Essentials

Ennio Morricone Essentials

Born in Rome in 1928, Ennio Morricone would change the sound of Hollywood forever. Among the composer's vast arsenal were eerie whistles, bombastic horn motifs, and surf-guitar leads. Together, it created a bigger-than-life projection of violence, open space, and exhilaration in the Wild West. His Spaghetti Western themes merge the romance of symphonic music with the clamorous ecstasy of rock ‘n' roll, and injected it all with a pop-art sensibility. Though famed for flash, Morricone's sensitive side was revealed later in life with wistful, nostalgia scores for Cinema Paradiso and The Mission.
