After a glorious '70s run, Elton John started the '80s at a low, rebounding from a disco flop and reeling from the murder of his friend John Lennon. Three years later, he told the world he was still standing, and he hasn't cooled down since. The 1983 album Too Low for Zero recaptured his hit mojo, and the future would add Broadway and movies to his resume.
