Named for their first percussionist—a drum machine the band called Echo—the Bunnymen were one of the most enduring college rock bands of the 1980s. Their gorgeous songs, reverb-laden sound, and playfully melodramatic style were an inspiration to bands on both sides of the Atlantic, leading up to the post-punk revival of the early 2000s.
