Donovan: The Psych Years
Apple Music
Donovan's early folk-rock albums led to a dismissive—and unfair—appraisal of the Scottish singer/songwriter as a Bob Dylan wannabe. But starting with his mellow 1966 hit "Sunshine Superman," Donovan reinvented himself as a sort of lysergic troubadour. A string of inventive psychedelic pop songs incorporating jazz, Indian, and even early heavy metal followed over the next several years.
