This pianist-composer wrote the soundtrack to The Graduate and a host of other films, but equally notable is the silky pop jazz he recorded in the late ‘70s. (Among the latter, he brought his orchestral skills to bear on the album Mountain Dance.) Outside the bounds of his more strictly mainstream work, the pianist used his marketplace mojo to direct listeners to the songbooks of Gershwin and Ellington. Our playlist collects the best of both worlds and includes Grusin's playing on electric and acoustic instruments.
