Norwegian metal band Darkthrone formed in '86. The death metal approach of their debut LP, '90's Soulside Journey, was quickly washed away by the rising tide of black metal. All traces of polish were scrubbed off follow-up albums A Blaze in the Northern Sky, Under a Funeral Moon, and '94's Transilvanian Hunger.
