Carpenter Brut Essentials

Since 2012, Franck Hueso has brought a sense of the unexpected to French electro. His moniker is a riff on horror genius John Carpenter, whose dystopian ‘80s soundtracks and wry humour infuse Hueso’s work, and Charpentier Brut, his favourite drink. Hueso’s early EPs, full of intense cuts such as the rambunctious, arpeggio-heavy “Le Perv” and neoclassical electroclash belter “Hang’em All”, were repackaged as a whole album, Trilogy, in 2015. Since then, team-ups with guest vocalists have given his music a rockier edge, including a take on the Flashdance favourite “Maniac” with Yann Ligner from French art rockers Klone.
