Rotterdam group Broederliefde have members with Antilian, Dominican and Cape Verde roots, and take tuneful inspiration from their heritage when fusing Nederhop’s upbeat, melody-centric rap with elements of dancehall, tropical house and afrobeat. Their trop house speckled summer jam “Jungle” was the most streamed Dutch song of 2016, “Kriebels” deploys vigorous breakbeats and meandering synths in a sensual dancehall groove, and “LaLaLaLaLa” overcomes its slapstick title with heady trap-oriented bass and acerbic Auto-Tuned vocals.
