(Please Read!) This is a playlist I made in honor of black artists that I have been listening to for the past month. There is a mix of genres— there’s something for everyone to like and jam out to. I decided to start it off with the spoken word piece “Children of Yah,” by Miles Carter since I thought his words carry so much weight and speaks on relatable manners through his incredible use of imagery/metaphors. I also decided to end it with Beyoncé’s “I was Here,” because it’s an inspiring song, especially during these times. We should do what we can to make someone else’s life easier while we’re here because we all truly need each other. We are the fueling strengths of each other and we should use our voices to stick together.
Every song in between, is for you to enjoy. Some have important messages worth listening to, while others are there to give you a boost. Enjoy with all of your heart. We have all been given the chance to listen to amazing black artists, and during these times their voices should be amplified. Black lives have always mattered, they still matter, and they will forever matter.
