Best of Ragtime

Ragtime became popular at the turn of the 20th century. Using the same “ragged” syncopated rhythm as jazz to stand out from the classical modes of the past, composers like Scott Joplin, James Scott, and Joseph Lamb charmed the masses with the style's Dixieland piano. But as this playlist proves, later players from the jazz period would continue to be inspired by ragtime's monophonic sound.
