In the late ‘60s, British rock grew ever more ambitious, pointing toward what would become prog. From early space rock (Pink Floyd) and the seeds of the Canterbury sound (The Wilde Flowers, Caravan), to psych folk (The Incredible String Band) and the incorporation of classical and jazz influences (Jeff Beck, The Nice), these proto-prog efforts laid the foundation that UK prog rock was built upon.
