The amazing thing about New Wave was the way that the music always found its audience. Some New Wave singles, by acts like Devo, Haircut 100, Katrina & The Waves, and Madness, hit the pop charts and gained MTV exposure. Other acts—as varied as Gleaming Spires, Altered Images, and Orange Juice—traveled by word of mouth and via mixtape. Either way, these singles remain timeless.
