Indie label Dead Oceans is based in Indiana and Austin, Texas, but its reach spans beyond the heartland and can't be defined by one genre. The label is home to folksy acts like Phosphorescent, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Bowerbirds, but it also released early experimental Dirty Projectors LPs, along with Bear in Heaven's psych-leaning efforts and Julianna Barwick's mesmerizing vocal effects.
