Damon Gough's work is best described as indie pop, although the songwriter has explored every corner of the genre—and just about every musical instrument—as Badly Drawn Boy. Case in point: His Mercury Music Prize–winning debut LP, The Hour of Bewilderbeast, which distilled Gough's experimental arrangements into jovial tunes that flirt with a baroque folk vibe. Since then, he's explored mainstream pop on 2002's About a Boy soundtrack, while adding rock influences to his repertoire on albums like 2010's It's What I'm Thinking Pt. 1–Photographing Snowflakes.
