“I think both Sara and I will agree to agree and admit to this, that we've been reprioritizing our lives because of COVID,” Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara says as she looks back on what has been a challenging but fruitful year for them. “I think there has been a lot of self-reflection and a lot of work internally, and I feel pretty grateful for that.” This year, the indie-pop duo kept busy working on the TV adaptation to their 2019 memoir High School and contributing a holiday song (“Make You Mine This Season”) to the soundtrack for the film Happiest Season. The bittersweet yet upbeat single closes an exclusive Apple Music playlist curated by the duo themselves, which is also represented here with the likes of Dehd, Dean Martin, the Pretenders, and Canadian pop artist Charlotte Day Wilson. “Her voice is just absolutely incredible,” Sara says. “We're very attracted to singers and tone. And Charlotte, here's somebody who's had an enormous amount of hype and who everybody loves and I don't think has compromised in any way.”
