Editors’ Notes A little bit soul, a little bit rock 'n' roll, this Canadian singer/songwriter charms with down-to-earth grace and an irrepressibly boho spirit. Discovered in her late teens by musician Jeff Healey, Amanda Marshall went on to release a self-titled debut in 1995 that showcased her breathy, powerful pipes and impressive range—spanning the folky soul of Joan Osborne and the gritty anthemic rock of Pat Benatar. She got a little funkier with 2001's Everybody's Got a Story, but her lyrics remain as heartfelt and winsome as ever.
