Alexei Morita: Music That Moves Me

Toronto fitness influencer Alexei Morita does it all: rollerblading, roller hockey, ice hockey, free diving, boxing, and dance. “As a content creator, most of my ‘workouts’ are impromptu urban rollerblading sessions in the summer and wild ice skating on frozen lakes during the winters,” he tells Apple Music. Morita’s freewheeling fitness schedule matches the vibe of his Music That Moves Me playlist which ricochets from EDM to hip-hop via pop hits and the completely unexpected—where else will you hear Frank Sinatra played back-to-back with Joji today? His eclectic picks, he says, all have at least one thing in common: “When I hear these songs, it activates an emotion in me and gets me into performance mode. Whether it’s upbeat fast tunes or slower melodic tunes, each song creates a mood which sets the scene for my content.” Morita’s huge online following is a tangible demonstration of how an active lifestyle can lead to positive effects, but the real benefits from his workout have nothing to do with metrics. “The best part about exercising is how it makes me feel—boosting my mood, energy, and overall health almost immediately,” he says. “Regular physical activity not only strengthens my body but also sharpens my mind, reduces my stress, and helps me to sleep better.”
