A&M Records: Classic Rock
Apple Music

For a label that was originally home to the easy listening hits of founder Herb Alpert, A&M Records became the tastemakers of rock 'n' roll by the early '70s. Never defined by one particular rock subgenre, A&M scored hits with Free's bluesy riffs, Supertramp's elegant art rock and 38 Special's outlaw boogie. By the end of the decade, massive songs by Squeeze and The Police were making A&M a New Wave powerhouse.
