Ratatouille
Pixar’s eighth feature-length film made the improbable probable, with the common rat Remy (voiced by Patton Oswalt) made into the inspiring, anthropomorphic hero of a culinary-centered story. With the sure, steady hand of Brad Bird (The Incredibles) stirring the stew-filled pot, Ratatouille is filled with a seemingly endless series of visual and aural delights, from the soft-hued Parisian backgrounds to the bursting-with-color kitchen where Remy and his human friend, Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano), turn cooking into a delectable art form. With its odds-stacked-against-the-heroes storyline, a touching friendship between Linguini and Remy (united by their love of all things food-related), and a surprisingly satirical skewering of food criticism in the form of the appropriately named Anton Ego (Peter O’Toole), Ratatouille remains one of Pixar’s most fully realized, entertaining films.
