About You Tell Me

You Tell Me is a collaboration between Field Music's Peter Brewis and Admiral Fallow's Sarah Hayes that combines their orchestral pop backgrounds and idiosyncratic songwriting while retaining an intensely personal lyrical approach.

Though Hayes was a long-time fan of Field Music, the pair didn't meet until after a Kate Bush celebration concert in 2016. On hearing Hayes' version of Bush's "This Woman's Work," Brewis was taken with her voice and after a few months, he sent her some songs he'd been working on, with the idea being that he would produce an album for her. They met up at Field Music's Sunderland recording studio and while talking discovered a mutual love of artists like Rufus Wainwright, Tortoise, Randy Newman, and the Blue Nile. Brewis was impressed enough by Hayes' demos that he asked her to start a band and the duo began recording. Their debut single, "Clarion Call," was released by Field Music's longtime label Memphis Industries in 2018. The covers of the 7" singles, which Brewis designed were unique pieces that could be combined to make a larger artwork. The duo's self-produced, self-titled debut album, which was the last album recorded at Field Music's studio before the building was demolished, was released in early 2019.
