About Ycee
Recognized globally for his blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop, Nigerian rapper and singer-songwriter Ycee has become a leader of Afropop. ∙ His 2015 breakout, “Condo,” featuring Afro-dancehall artist Patoranking, was nominated for two Nigeria Entertainment Awards: Best Collaboration of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year. ∙ Nominated for eight Nigerian Headies Awards over just four years, Ycee won a gold plaque in 2015 for Rookie of the Year. ∙ Ycee became the first African artist to host a program on the UK’s BBC Radio 1Xtra, when he sat in for Dj Edu on the Destination Africa show in 2017. ∙ He broke onto the international scene alongside British-Nigerian artist Maleek Berry with 2017’s hit single, “Juice,” which they performed at JAY-Z’s Made In America music festival. ∙ In 2017, Ycee was recognized as one of the top-performing new artists on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart. ∙ Named after his rapper alter ego, Zaheer, 2019’s Ycee Vs Zaheer marked the singer’s full-length debut and featured “Dakun,” which landed on Apple Music’s Top 100: Nigeria chart.
