WYTE LABL

East London-based producers Jeff Russell and Aaron Greenwood make up WYTE LABL, a U.K. garage duo whose sound combines the bright chords, galloping beats, and chopped-up vocals of the genre's heyday with a lifelong passion for pop music songcraft. By the time the pair were introduced to each other by a mutual friend, Russell had experience DJing in clubs and on London-based dance radio station Rinse FM, and Greenwood was skilled as a vocalist and piano player. Inspired by garage producers such as Todd Edwards and M.J. Cole, they began writing tracks, releasing debut single "This Year (As We Go)" in 2013. Radio support came from BBC and Kiss FM, and the duo guested on DJ Target's BBC Radio 1Xtra program in June of 2014. Following numerous DJ mixes and a few Internet-circulated remixes, WYTE LABL signed to Virgin EMI in 2015, with single "Runaway" appearing that summer. ~ Paul Simpson
