About Trivium

Trivium is an American heavy metal band known for their mix of thrash, progressive, and metalcore styles, as well for frontman Matt Heafy’s cinematic lyrics.

∙ Influenced by Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Machine Head, the original Trivium lineup formed in 1999, while Heafy was in eighth grade and the other members were still in high school.
Ember to Inferno, their 2003 debut, was originally released on a small German label, but it generated enough buzz to earn the band a contract with Roadrunner Records.
∙ Their 2005 LP, Ascendency, sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide and was named Album of the Year by Kerrang! magazine.
∙ Released in 2006, The Crusade was the band’s first of 6 straight albums to reach the Top 25 of the Billboard 200 and was a No. 7 hit in the UK.
∙ “Betrayer,” a standout track from 2017’s The Sin and the Sentence, received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance.
Metal Hammer magazine ranked Ascendancy at No. 11 on its list of the 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century.
