Trip-hop pioneer Tricky got his start with fellow Bristol icons Massive Attack before branching out on his own as a solo artist. With his distinctive raspy vocals and hypnotic production style, he became a fixture in the electronic scene of the '90s, earning critical acclaim with his seminal 1995 debut Maxinquaye and notable efforts like 1996's Pre-Millennium Tension and 1998's Angels with Dirty Faces. He continued to release music into the 21st century, occasionally bubbling up the charts with albums such as Blowback (2001), Knowle West Boy (2008), and False Idols (2013). In addition to songwriting and production, he is also an actor and author.
