Born February 3, 1938, in Baden-Baden as Herbert Anton Hilger, German pop and opera singer Tony Marshall attended the Karlsruher College of Music, graduating in 1965. His career as a singer took off in 1971 when his recording of "Pretty Maid" was a huge international success, and he continued to be extremely popular in Germany for his stage roles as much as his recordings. Tony Marshall died in Baden-Baden after several years of poor health on February 16, 2023 at the age of 85. ~ Steve Leggett
