About Tom Eaton

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I learned Max Crook's synthesizer solo in Del Shannon's "Runaway" by heart as I rode in the passenger seat of my father's van as a child. The sound was other worldly and beautiful and opened my young ears to possibilities that I'm still exploring. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brian Eno, Harold Budd, The Pearl Talking Heads, Speaking In Tongues Tim Story, Beguiled These three albums have been in nearly constant rotation in my life for years. "Beguiled" and "The Pearl" create worlds that I want to spend time in, with a perfect balance of melody, mystery and texture. "Speaking in Tongues" is brilliantly fun. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “for kissing and to sing with (for Sarah)” The title comes from e.e. cummings, but the notes are all about my wife Sarah. This album of improvised piano miniatures spends a fair bit of time in sadness, but this song always makes me smile. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing the Jazz Museum in New Orleans with Erik Scott and Jeff Oster. Jeff hit the wrong pedal and started a click track in the middle of the song and Erik and I just started laughing...Oster threw his hands in the air "I can't turn it off!" Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've been so lucky to play live music with friends who are amazing musicians... I'd love to have more time to collaborate both live and in the studio. Or at the very least to actually finish the various collaborations I'm already involved in!
