About The White Buffalo

The White Buffalo is the stage name of Jake Smith, a punk-influenced singer-songwriter whose style swings between folk, alt-country, and blues-rock. ∙ His breakout came after pro surfer and filmmaker Chris Malloy was gifted a mix tape of Smith’s songs and decided to use “Wrong” in his cult classic 2001 surf documentary, Shelter. ∙ Once Upon a Time In the West drew praise from such outlets as The New Yorker and NPR, which highlighted “BB Guns and Dirt Bikes” in its 2012 Winter Music Preview. ∙ His 2013 release, Shadows, Greys & Evil Ways—a concept album about politics, war, and marriage—debuted at the top of the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. ∙ A regular on the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack, he joined the show’s house band, The Forest Rangers, for the Emmy-nominated “Come Join the Murder,” which closed the series. ∙ Outlaw country star Shooter Jennings produced and performed on 2020’s On The Widow’s Walk, which shot to No. 1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart.
