About The Thoughts

A quartet of Pete Beckett (vocals/guitar), Phil Boardman (lead guitar), Dave Croft (drums) and Alan Hornby (bass), this Liverpool, Merseyside, England group initially recorded as backing band to local singer Tiffany (as Tiffany‘s Thoughts). In this guise they released two singles on Parlophone Records, ‘I Know’ and ‘Find Out What’s Happening’. They also backed other local acts including Paul Dean and Johnny And John. In 1966 they switched to Planet Records and made their debut as the Thoughts with ‘All Night Stand’/‘Memory Of Your Love’. A comparatively risqué single for the time, the a-side was a Ray Davies composition never recorded by the Kinks, and produced by Shel Talmy. However, when chart success eluded them the group broke up, Beckett later joining Paladin.
