About The Temper Trap

An Australian indie outfit whose debut single unexpectedly became an international smash, The Temper Trap has been turning out anthemic rock ’n’ roll for more than a decade. ∙ Formed in Melbourne in 2005, the band later caught the attention of UK producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian), who signed on to produce their debut LP, 2009’s Conditions. ∙ Their first single, “Sweet Disposition,” hit the Top 10 in the UK, Ireland, and Belgium, and it became a sensation in the US after it was prominently featured in the film 500 Days of Summer. ∙ “Science of Fear” from 2009’s Conditions, includes an under-the-radar guest appearance from DJ Shadow, who provided The Temper Trap with a beat for the song. ∙ In 2010, they released Conditions Remixed, a collection of club-oriented reworks from such prominent electronic music artists as Adam Freeland, Rusko, and Peter, Bjorn & John. ∙ After earning four nominations in 2009, The Temper Trap took home their first ARIA Awards (for Best Group and Most Popular Australian Single) the following year and picked up a third in 2012. ∙ The band’s self-titled sophomore LP topped the Australian charts in 2012, and the follow-up, 2016’s Thick As Thieves, also reached No. 1.
