The Shades of Orange

Sweden's Shades of Orange bridged the gap between the neo-psychedelic rock of the late '80s and the Madchester-influenced dance sound of the early '90s. Formed in Sundsvall, Sweden around 1989, Shades of Orange originally featured vocalist Ronny Pale, guitarist Arvid Lind, bassist Magnus Renström, Hammond organ player Maria Ojala, and drummer Daniel Westin. The band released the single, "Coming Out" in 1990, followed by their self-titled, full-length debut in 1992. A few more singles would follow before the band called it quits in 1993. Lind went on to play with the Swedish pop band Popsicle. Shades of Orange reunited in 2009 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their former label Massproduktion. Another reunion show was set for 2013. ~ Matt Collar
