About The Resurrection Sorrow

New York City's the Resurrection Sorrow subscribe to an intentionally raw vision of heavy metal's classic musical trademarks, adorned with stoner and sludge accents. Created in the mid-2000s by frontman Alex Dementia (ex-After Dark), bassist/guitarist Alex Coelho (Tides Within, ex-Malstrom), and drummer Louie Gasparro (Murphy's Law, Blitzspeer, etc.), the group's 2009 debut album, Hour of the Wolf, showcased occult-laced lyrics choked out by hoarse vocals, grime-covered guitars not averse to copious melodies, and a powerful, clearly all analog rhythm section. Zak Gross was recruited to play lead guitar shortly before the album's recording, allowing Coelho to take over the bass guitar permanently, and this lineup proceeded to record a follow-up EP in 2011 entitled The Scorpion Savior Sessions. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
