About The Disco Evangelists

The Disco Evangelists comprised Ashley Beedle (b. London, England), David Holmes (b. Belfast, Northern Ireland) and Lyndsay Edwards (b. London, England; ex-If?). Originally released on Beedle’s Black Sunshine label before Positiva Records picked it up, their ‘De Niro’ hit referred to the namesake actor’s movie, Once Upon A Time In America. The follow-up, ‘A New Dawn’, also found a home on Positiva’s release schedule. Beedle worked alongside the Stereo MCs’ Nick and Rob as Axis (‘Rollin’ With Rai’), and as part of Workshy, X-Press 2, Black Science Orchestra and Marden Hill. In 1994 he formed Delta House Of Blues, which signed to Go! Discs. He has also undertaken remixes for Jodeci and East 17 (‘Deep’). Holmes is one of the most interesting and prolific of England’s DJ fraternity, working as part of Scubadevils (with ex-members of Dub Federation) and running the Sugarsweet/Exploding Plastic Inevitable club/label empire in Belfast. He has also enjoyed critical acclaim for his solo album Let's Get Killed.
